Earth Hour 2011

{Earth Hour 2011}

Tonight is Earth hour 2011, if you don’t know what that means it is an hour each year where we try to conserve energy around the world. So tonight at 8:30pm your local time just shut off the lights in your house and any extra electronics.  That’s it that is all you have to do and the effect it has will amaze you!

You can spend some real quality time with your family; telling ghost stories by flashlight, play hide-and-seek or Marco Polo, flashlight tag, lay in bed together and just talk, there are so many things you can do that don't involve lights or the TV!

You can go here for more information; I spent quite a bit of time looking around this website and learned a lot! www.earthhour.org

I love doing earth hour. I also turn of heaters and everything else. We only keep things that are on batteries on for the rest of the evening. I try to do this a few times a year just for the fun of it.

I love Earth Hour! I encourage my students to do it each year too. We also have ab hour where we unplug everything in the classroom. There is enough natural light and the kids love it! (also a great break from florescent lighting!)

Too bad this year is it during the Butler game in March Madness! Our house will commit at another hour :)
