Hop- Review

{HOP- Review}

{About}
 Hop is a movie where a computer animated bunny named E.B (Russell Brand) flees from his home to avoid taking over the family business, he heads straight to Hollywood! This movie is not funny animated and E.B ends up finding Fred (James Marsden) and manipulates him into letting him stay with him, which Fred soon regrets!

{My Opinion}
This move was hilarious! I absolutely loved it, I thought it was adorable. It was Jason, me, Sunnie, her husband, B and C (Sunnies girls 8 and 6), Moose (boy 4), Tater (boy 6) and Louie (girl 7); all of us loved it; everyone thought it was really good. I would recommend this movie, it didn’t have any jokes that would make me wonder if the kids were going to understand them, and it was very clean overall. I would recommend Hop for ages 4 and up because it is not a cartoon so it may not keep their attention as well. Go see it and let me know what you thought! They have a really fun interactive website too www.iwantcandy.com

Quick Headband Flowers

{Quick and Affordable Fancy Flowers}

I don’t have any little girls but I do make stuff for Louie all the time. Amanda taught me how to make the super affordable and cute barrette flower. It starts with a bouquet of flowers from the dollar store of all places! I made two flowers out of one bouquet but it just depends on the type of flower you chose and how big you want the final product.

Pull the flowers off of the stems and then pull the center piece out of the flower, this will allow the petals come off.

Usually there are 2-3 different sizes of petals so I stack them into size groups. Stack the petals on top of each other starting with the biggest ones and then adding smaller ones, ending with some of the petals that were in the center originally.

Once you have them all stacked you can either use a small bit of hot glue between each layer or you can do what I did and just put a few stitches in the middle to hold them together.

Once you are done you can just hot glue it to your barrette. That’s it! It takes about 10 minutes and costs about $1.10 with the barrette cost added in.

A picture of something that means a lot to you

Everything in this picture means something to me, the kids, the mud, the fact that we were camping, all of it. It means a lot to me for my kids to get outside and play, to go camping and to get a little (or a lot) dirty!

Disney On Ice Princess Classics- Denver

{Disney on Ice Princess Classics- Denver}

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending Disney on Ice Princess Classics in Denver at the Denver Coliseum with Jason, Moose, Tater and Louie. I have to say that this morning Moose and Tater decided that they might not want to go because “it’s about princesses” and “it’s for girls” so I told them that it was for boys too and that they were going. Tater was in charge of pictures and he had a disposable camera, I will develop and add them later today.

We got to the Coliseum and found our seats, got settled in and waited. The show started right at 7pm which was nice, I hate when shows start late and I am trying to keep the kids busy!

Once the boys saw Mickey and Minnie Mouse they were into it. It was funny because the boys haven’t seen many of the Disney Princess movies (bad mommy, I know! I am going to get all of them now!) So Tater was entranced the whole time and couldn’t stop asking questions “who’s that?” “Is that a bad guy or a good guy?” “What movie is this from?” I kept saying “Just watch son, you will see” it was a riot.

In the end the boys actually loved the show and so did Louie, they all thanked us over and over for bringing them. They said they loved it! Tater said that it was cool because there were lots of boys (princes) in it. I thought it was a great show and I loved seeing the beautiful princess dresses. I also love hearing the songs from the movies that I grew up with, I am that lady who can’t help but sing along… out loud… in public.

I would definitely recommend this show and be sure to let your little ones dress up as princesses and princes, they will be in good company and they love leaving the house in dress up clothes! Besides, they look so cute all dressed up!

30 Day Picture Challenge- Day 25

{Day 25- 30 Day Picture Challenge}

Well, well, well… look how far we have come! Only 5 more days! So today’s challenge is to post a picture of my favorite day

This challenge makes it really hard for me not to be generic, I would hate to go with the obvious (wedding day, children’s birthday’s, etc.), I have been avoiding that the whole 30 days and I can’t change it now.

I went ahead and did a little bit of a different interpretation of this one and I went the 4th of July! I love the whole day, sitting at the park, the fireworks and the kids being in the bike parade, oh and did I mention the fireworks!? I love fireworks!

Tell All Tuesday

{Tuesday Tell All}

Did you have a nickname as you were growing up? If you did, what was it and why did they call you that? Have you had other nicknames as an adult? What do family members call you now?

My family has always been big on nicknames; I have a ton for my kiddos.  Growing up some of my nicknames were Beans, Beanery, Pooh, Sissy and Scooter. I am not sure where any of them came from though.

As an adult I am sure there are things that people call me that shouldn’t be posted in my family friendly blog! Really though only my brother has a nickname for me now, he calls me sister and I call him brother (I even have his number in my phone under “brother”) I don’t know how long it has been since I have called him by his name.

30 Day Picture Challenge- Day 24

{Day 24- 30 Day Picture Challenge}

A picture of something you wish you could change

I will go with my bank account, again avoiding the obvious answers (i.e.- war, world hunger, violence). I would be sure to change the amount in my bank account and believe me when I say that there would be enough money in there to last a lifetime… or two.

Super Easy Headband

{Fastest Headband Ever}

I found this 10 minute headband over at Bluebird Studio and I have never made any like this before so I decided to give it a shot. She has a great tutorial, be sure to head over and check it out. It was so simple! There was no turning stuff inside out or trying to loop elastic through the fabric, just sewing a simple strip and attaching a hair tie at the bottom. Simple and beautiful!

I started with a 6” wide and 22” long strip of fabric and a hair tie
I folded the fabric in half length wise and ironed a crease into it and unfolded it

Using the iron again I folded the edges one at a time to the center crease and ironed again

After I had ironed both sides in, I folded to the center crease, I folded the fabric in half again and ironed it flat

I sewed along each edge of the fabric

I folded the ends in and creased them,

Placed the hair tie into the creases and sewed them shut using the zig zag stitch to hold it in.

Ta-Da! Beautiful headband!
